Business Talks
There should be more networks for business people (in particular entrepreneurs) out there to get together to hatch ideas! Most so call "networking" gathering charges a high fee and there is no guarantee that you'll have the right crowd and the general mentality is always that the other people out there want to fleece you.
I'm currently working for an MNC and have spent some time working in China. Networking do work there amongst the "local"! It's not about what the other people can do for you but the general exchange of ideas can sometime hatch brilliant business ideas and opportunities. I've seen multi-billion (RMB, albeit!) business started this way amongst some business friends. The successful ones are usually the ones where the few partners can mutually benefit out of.
Perhaps this type of get together of business minds can be facilitated through the right forum. Privacy will be need to be addressed!
I do not have all the solutions or the right answers but perhaps this topic here can hatch a coming together of minds to facilitate such an event??

For BNI, every Friday morning, 0730am at Pink NutriDeli, 2nd floor, The Clifford Centre
For TEP, this coming 20th Jan, at 7pm, Brindas Restaurant, Bt Merah Central...

I agree with you Ben, i am also starting up something of my own but need more advice and inputs and to be able to meet up with entrepreanuers will be good as you will get first hand advice.
I used to attend BNI Business Networking International, but its so time consuming as you have to bring a guest each week and who has time to search for frens when you have more pressing works on hand. Lets start someting of our own without having to pay any kind of fees and by word of mouth people will start coming as its not costing anything. Let me know Cheers
